The right daily diet

Hi Christoggers!

'You are what you eat' - a common expression which has more truth in it than hamburgers and milkshakes. The effects or results of what you literally put into your mouth are revealed not only in how you look but also in how you feel. Occasions such as birthday or Christmas celebrations give us an excuse to over-indulge ourselves in the 'sweeter treats' though the consequences of these are well known. Making such treats part of our everyday mealtime could result in us for example becoming 'close friends' with our bathrooms :-(

'You are what you eat' is also quite true in other areas of our life which have no connection whatsoever with food. Take for example, watching TV; if you were to listen to the News all day long, everyday, you would eventually be thinking about the little good as well as the tons of junk reported! I remember having my kitchen radio on all day and listening to the News, during the war of Iraq. By evening, my spirit was always low and I almost felt into a state of depression! All the horrible things I had heard had more impact than the handful of good News. Feeding my mind and spirit with the wrong 'food' meant that I was being transformed... but into what? I noticed the negative effects this had on my mind and emotions and I had to say 'Adieu' to the TV!

Our minds and spirits need to have the right 'information-diet', just as our bodies need the right type of foods or nutrition. We need to feed our minds and spirits on the truth in large portions to keep healthy - spirit, soul, mind and body. We need the energy-giving 'carbos', the cell-repairing 'prots' and energy-storing 'fats'. In other words, we need a multivital source - the Word of God.

In my quest for the truth, the real, wholesome, undiluted and uncontaminated truth, the Word of God is the only source. Whatever it is that you may be fed from the world, always double-check it with the Word. No matter what the new trends or ideas may be, God's Word is the only ideal and this cannot be re-written. Whatever new laws may be voted in or old laws that are voted out, the Word of God is a law to itself and cannot be changed. Whatever new things become acceptable to the majority or old things that are eradicated because they are now 'Old School', the Word of God cannot be done away with. It's content is more relevant to us now than ever before.

The right daily diet to be on is the Word of God. It nourishes, strengthens and restores. It makes you immune to the attacks of the enemy. It moves you from shame to fame, from regression to progression, from sickness to healing, from bondage to deliverance, from failure to success, from lack to abundance, from victory to victory and from glory to glory. It's not a 7-day nor a 30-day slimming-down diet but a healthy 365-day life-giving diet. It's benefits are insuperable.
Dear Lord, as I feed on your Word, let it's power be manifested in every area of my life, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Till next week, keep on walking in Christ.
